When is the best time to visit Barranco del Infierno?
Barranco del Infierno, in Adeje (South Tenerife), can be visited throughout the year thanks to the privileged Canary Islands climate. However, not all seasons offer the same experience. Temperature, waterfall flow, visitor numbers and trail conditions change considerably depending on the month. Spring (March – May): the best season to enjoy the greenery
Spring is undoubtedly one of the best times to visit Barranco del Infierno. The winter rains have nourished the ravine and the vegetation is at its most spectacular. The trail appears carpeted in intense greens and the waterfall carries a notable flow that impresses on arrival.
Temperatures are mild, between 18 and 24°C, ideal for walking without the excess heat of summer. Visitor numbers are moderate. March and April are particularly magical: the ravine is in full bloom.
Summer (June – September): the peak visitor season
Summer is the high tourist season in Tenerife and Barranco del Infierno is no exception. Visitor numbers reach their peak, so it is essential to book your ticket well in advance. Temperatures can exceed 30°C on the most sun-exposed stretches.
It is recommended to set off in the early hours of the day (from 8:00 am) to avoid the most intense heat and enjoy the morning light in the ravine.
Autumn (October – November): perfect temperatures and higher waterfall flow
Autumn is one of the most recommended seasons to visit the trail. Temperatures return to pleasant levels (between 20 and 26°C) and the first rains of the season begin to increase the ravine flow and rejuvenate the vegetation.
October and November offer the perfect balance between agreeable climate and lower visitor numbers than in summer.
Winter (December – February): the waterfall at its most spectacular
Although the Canary Islands winter bears no resemblance to that of mainland Spain, it is the season with the highest probability of rain in Adeje. This has a direct consequence: the Barranco del Infierno waterfall reaches its maximum flow, becoming a truly spectacular display of power and beauty.
Temperatures range between 15 and 20°C, making it comfortable for walking. Visitor numbers are lower than in summer, allowing for a more intimate and contemplative experience.
